"Lecz nade wszystko – słowom naszym, zmienionym chytrze przez krętaczy, jedyność przywróć i prawdziwość: niech prawo zawsze prawo znaczy, a sprawiedliwość – sprawiedliwość." Julian Tuwim, Kwiaty polskieWednesday, November 25, 2020
It is always a pleasure to have one of our greatest pianist/composers, Mike Nock, perform at the club. Awarded the Don Banks Prize in 2014, Mike has been a vital force in Australian Jazz since his first recordings in 1960 with the legendary Three-Out trio. Living in the US from 1961-1985, he is widely known through his extensive catalogue of recordings and compositions under his own name and with many high profile musicians globally.
Named Best Australian Jazz Ensemble at the 2015 Bell Awards, NOCTET, Mike Nock’s latest incarnation of his award-winning eight-piece ensemble makes its first, much anticipated appearance this year at FOUNDRY616, a great follow-up top his winter sell-out electronic trio gig.
Featuring an exuberant mix of youth and experience, with rising stars trumpeter Tom Avgenicos and trombonist Matt O’Brien, alongside more established players guitarist Carl Morgan, saxophonists Peter Farrar & Karl Laskowski. With these exceptional musicians, new music & fresh sounds, supported by Mike’s celebrated TRIO – this will be exciting night of creative modern jazz.
Come and share the atmosphere of warm vibes, friendly people and great food, to help banish the Mid-Winter blues!
